Q. What are Fragrance Oils?
A. Fragrance Oils normally are made up of a number of synthetic imitations or essential oil mixtures to create a fragrance that will smell like a flower, herb, plant or other fragrance. Many times this is done because of the expense of obtaining the Essential Oil (as in Rose Oil) or because the oil is hard to find or illegal to possess (as in Ambergris Oil). Fragrance oils are not meant to be ingested since they are a true oil. They have no medicinal value and are used mostly for creating items such as candles, soaps, potpourris and items where you want the scent. Fragrance Oils are available in almost any scent imaginable. I use Fragrance Oils in both my spells and my baths.
Q. Where do you get your incense? It smells terrific!
A. All the incense you find here is created at our shop. We go to great lengths to make sure the incense and candles you purchase from us are top of the line products. The oils used to make these great gifts also come from Granny’s Country Store.
Q. What are Essential Oils?
A. Essential Oils are natural concentrated essences derived from plants, bark, roots, seeds, stems, flowers, leaves, fruits, etc. and are usually steamed distilled, although they can also be pressed and solvent distilled. Essential Oils are not an oil in all reality, in that they are actually plant-derived. They have been called oils for many years though and most people think of them in that way. The cost of Essential Oils is directly influenced by the amount of plant material needed to create them and by the area in which the Oil is imported from. Essential Oils are used for healing both the body and spirit and can be ingested safely. Many people use these in aromatherapy treatments and in healing baths. Essential Oils can also be used in flavoring foods as well as candles, soaps and other scented creations. There are times when the Essential Oil of a plant doesn’t smell anything like the plant itself (as in Back Pepper Oil).
Q. Where do your herbs come from?
A. All the Herbs you find here come from either the grower (like myself) or from one of two wholesalers that I've found. These wholesalers were chosen after trying their product and comparing the quality and price of what they offered to other companies out there.
Q. What about other supplies I need? Things like vials, bottles and pipettes.
A. Here you will find just about everything you need to properly store and measure your oils. There are vials ranging in size from 1 Dram (1/8 ounce) to 4 Dram (1/2 ounce) available in both clear and amber color. They all come with lids so you don't have to worry about ordering the right size. Also available are 1oz., 2oz, 4oz. and 8oz.glass and plastic bottles which you can order by contacting me directly. You will find a standard pipette in the 3ml I carry. This works well for oils and is easy to clean with soap and water or alcohol.
